Fool-Proof Caramel Apples!

Fool-Proof Caramel Apples!

INGREDIENTS

• 1 (11oz) package caramel squares (candy aisle, produce by apples sometimes–check for GF)

• 2 Tablespoons of water

• 3-4 Large Granny Smith Apples (Green)

• 3-4 Popsicle sticks or skewers (kitchenware aisle or craft store, popsicle sticks are more sturdy)

DIRECTIONS

Make sure apples are well chilled in the refrigerator prior to beginning.

Lightly grease parchment paper or aluminum foil for apples to be set on.

Then, open each individually wrapped caramel square into a medium size microwavable bowl.

Add water to bowl as well, and set in microwave for 2:00 – 2:30 minutes, or until caramel is completely melted & smooth.

Be sure to stir halfway through time, and keep an eye on it while heating because caramel will begin to rise and bubble.

Once caramel is smooth and stirred, wash and dry apples completely, then remove any stems from the apples, and insert your stick into the stem side.

Now, begin dipping your apples. I recommend you place the apple on its side at an angle in the bowl, and use the stick to rotate the apple until completely covered. Then, hold apple by stick over bowl until excess caramel has dripped into the bowl.

(Here, you have the option to dip your apple into crushed peanuts, sprinkles, drizzle with chocolate, etc.)

Place the caramel apples on prepared parchment paper or aluminum foil, and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours, so caramel can set.

And, you are done! Honestly, caramel apples can seem very intimidating at first, but they’re actually really simple!
