American Flag Pastries
INGREDIENTS
- Pie pastry or puff pastry
- Strawberries, sliced thin
- Blueberries, halved
- White sugar
- Egg, mixed
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 400F degrees
- Mix strawberries with desired amount of sugar in one bowl
- Mix blueberries with desired amount of sugar in another bowl
- Start to cut pastry dough into rectangles. Make an indent line halfway through rectangle as a guide
- On the right side of the rectangle, cut stripes all the way up to indent
- On the left side, layer strawberries and leave top left for blueberries. Design to look like American flag
- Gently fold stripes onto fruit and remove any excess or fold under pastry
- Cut out pastry that lies on top on the blueberries
- Place on parchment paper and brush egg wash onto the dough
- Bake until golden brown (10 minutes more or less)
